TeDe is based in Oita Prefecture, Japan. We are located in the Handa Plateau within the Aso-Kuju National Park. Here you can admire the elegant Kuju mountains, relax in hot springs and enjoy the abundant natural surroundings. In 2006, the Kokonoe “Yume” Ootsurihashi, Japan’s longest and tallest pedestrian suspension bridge, had its grand opening, The bridge spans the breathtaking Naruto river ravine, showcasing the Shindou waterfall and the scenery of Kyuusuikei.
The mountain climate changes dramatically with each of the four seasons. Spring is superbly refreshing, one type of flower blooming after the next. When the miyamakirishima flower is in full bloom the entire mountainside radiates with pink. Summer is comfortable and warm, the green of the foliage has reached its peak and the clouds that roll through the sky are giant, billowing, and wonderful. Fall is spectacular, the air is crisp, the leaves are radiant and fields of susuki grass shimmer in the breeze. Winter is, well, cold, but there is something magical about seeing all of the sleeping trees covered in snow and the night sky is so dark and clear, it’s the best time of year to see the stars. Please come anytime time of the year. Just don’t forget to stop in at TeDe while you are enjoying the lovely Handa Plateau.
